Sumac is a dark purple powder that has a distinct tart lemony taste. Sumac is grown in many parts of Italy, and the Middle East. This spice has been used for thousands of years in Mediterranean and Arabic cuisines.

Serving Tips:
Widely used in Lebanese, Syrian and Turkish cuisines. May be rubbed on fish, chicken or steaks before cooking. Mix in bean salads to give just a hint of its flavor. Soak in warm water and squeeze to release their juice. This strained juice is added to foods toward the end of cooking time, or added to marinades and salad dressings.

Store in a cool, dry place.
